Stories from the Exile - Sic fiat voluntas Tua

Let me raise up my hands to you.
Not in despair but in prayer
for the lowly and humble,
for the weary who stumble and fall
in out of the night.

To the borders of faith
you lead me
where I can give you my nothingness,
where you can serve.
And even though
I don't understand,
I become you forsaken,
your hill of night,
the darkness and light of it all
for you
so that you can draw up through me
the cries of all
to pour out the love of God
for the people,
the people,
the people,
the people,
the people,
all the people of the earth.

Sic fiat voluntas,
sic fiat voluntas,
Sic fiat voluntas tua.

Magnificat anima mea Dominum;
Et exultavit spiritus meus
in Deo salutari meo.

Background

I was asked to perform at an event in the Paul VI audience hall in the Vatican. During the rehearsals I decided to write this song and perform it instead of the original one.

The song is my view of what priesthood is about.
